General Information

This website is intended for individuals and health care professionals interested in the services provided to people with bleeding disorders caused by blood clotting defects. This site offers general information about the service centres designated by the Minister of Health and Social Services and specific information about the services offered at the CHU Sainte-Justine.

Since 1979, four provincially-designated hemophilia centres have been providing care and treatment to children and adults living with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. A medical referral from a family doctor or medical specialist is required in order to obtain an appointment in any one of the four following clinics:

Sherbrooke: CHUS Fleurimont
Quebec City: CHA Enfant-Jésus
Montreal: MUHC Montreal Children’s Hospital, CHU SAINTE-JUSTINE

The CHU Sainte-Justine

The Hemostasis Programs of the CHU Sainte-Justine and the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital provide interdisciplinary medical care by a team of specialists composed of physicians, patient-designated nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, and a social worker. The director of the CHU Sainte-Justine Hemostasis Centre is Dr. Georges-Étienne Rivard and the co-director is Dr. Jean St-Louis. The Women’s Hemostasis Program is coordinated by Dr. Rochelle Winikoff. This team’s goal is to provide quality medical care by developing the needed diagnostic, treatment, teaching, home care, and health monitoring services.
